Fruity, tropical and super tasty, this rum cocktail is simple to make, needing only a few ingredients to put together. Feel free to scale it up for a punch bowl or scale it down for a single glass, either way, you’re sure to enjoy it. This versatile rum punch recipe is always a huge hit and is easily modified to suit your taste, just swap out the juices for whatever you prefer!

It is handy to remember this little rhyme to help guide you on your punch making journeys.

“One of Sour, Two of Sweet, Three of Strong, Four of Weak.”

Whilst doing some research, we found that the word “punch” comes from a Sanskrit word meaning ‘five’. This is because the origins of this fun cocktail were five ingredients; alcohol, sugar, lemon juice, water, and spices.

The Rum punch we know and love today is a result of the traditional punch making its way from England to the West Indies, where the sweetness of the tropical fruits, which were readily available to them, turned out to be a perfect match for Rum.

As we always say for any cocktail, this is just a guide, you make a drink that you want to drink and enjoy.
